Neuroscience Will Change Our Lives

Origins of Neuroscience

To learn about neuroscience and its origin, we go way back to 335 BC in ancient egypt. Where people started to question and be puzzled about how brains worked. A Greek philosopher Aristotle claimed that the brain was only a radiator and kept the heart from overheating. Many years later 170 AD, a Roman Physician Galen studied the brain and came up with the conclusion that the brain might be the place where complex thought and memories were made and stored. Throughout many years after the studies of Galen, many more facts about the brain were found, that the brain is triggered by Electricity, Neurons were the unit of the brain, and synapses. By the late 1950s and early 1960s, neuroscience was fairly populated and triggered an explosion of research of the brain starting from 1960, and the concept of neuroscience was made. With new technology and knowledge, more and more information about the brain was found, its functions and diseases, and connection with the central nervous system which consists of the brain and spinal cord. But why is this new information good for us? Well it gives us a better understanding of emotions and thinking, and it can help us find cures to once incurable disorders like Alzheimer’s Disease or Brain Tumors.

New Information About Emotions

With more and more understanding of our brains, we are more likely to find information about the emotions that happen in our lives. Joyfulness, sadness, or nostalgia are all emotions. Knowing how the brain triggers different feelings is useful because with knowledge of how brains trigger different emotions, it can help deal with anxiety and other negative emotions with different types of therapy later on. Emotions are internal feelings that guide behavior. With anxious and vengeful emotions lasting for a long time, you can have social issues and feel burnt out. And suicides or crimes happen a lot because of these strong negative emotions which is why therapy very important to take in today’s society.

What Brain Disorders Will be Solved with Neuroscience?

Many different types of brain disorders make millions of people’s lives incredibly hard, and even takes life away from people. Such as epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease. These are all brain disorders which means it happens because of a disorder in the brain or spinal cord. We do not have cures to most brain disorders but only treatments. With heighted understanding of brains, we can find cures to many disorders that were incurable before. Improving and saving lives of millions of people. Many scientists still study that brain today to improve many people’s lives.
