Based on the adjusted projection from the Guam Visitors Bureau, full recovery of tourism will take a long time after typhoon Marwar.

In 2020, during the COVID-19, tourism industry hit the bottom due to the international travel restrictions. Before Mawar, about 670,000 visitors were expected to come to Guam this fiscal year. However, according to Jerry Perez, a GVB president, in 2023 there will be only 400,000 visitors. After Typhoon Mawar, the fiscal 2024 is also expected to be low. Even though Guam recovered 70%, visitors are expected to be 550,000 to 600,000 which is less than the number of visitors before the Typhoon Mawar. Based on the past typhoons recovery, the recovery from the typhoon Mawar is expected to take 24 to 30 months.
